Ukraine analyst

Job Description: We are seeking a political analyst who will focus on monitoring and analyzing political developments in Ukraine, including governance, domestic policies, electoral processes, and regional dynamics. The role involves identifying emerging issues and trends, preparing comprehensive reports and briefings, and contributing to the organization’s analytical and reporting efforts. The analyst will also provide expert advice on Ukraine’s political landscape to inform strategic decision-making and policy development.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with national government officials, international organizations, NGOs, and civil society groups.
2. Serve as a liaison with various institutions, community leaders, and key influencers to support and inform policy-related discussions.
3. Produce weekly, monthly, and annual comprehensive political reporting and analysis, offering balanced insights on current events.
4. Provide advice, background assessments, updates, and input on historical, social, economic, political, and development issues.

Requirements

1. Hold an advanced degree in politics, law, international relations, security studies, or a related field.
2. Have at least five years of directly relevant professional experience.
3. Possess excellent knowledge of local and regional history, the national political landscape, legislative bodies, political institutions, NGOs, civil society organizations, and other relevant entities.
4. Be proficient in advanced word processing and presentation software.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in English and Ukrainian.
6. Willingness and flexibility to work outside standard working hours when necessary.
7. Previous experience as a political analyst at the local, national, or regional level, or with an international organization, embassy, or similar institution.
8. Work experience in a security or military context.

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting analysis on Russian military affairs, preferably in a government, military, or intelligence agency setting.
3. Strong understanding of Russian military doctrine, strategy, and operational concepts.
4. Proficiency in the Russian language (reading, writing, and speaking) is highly desirable.
5. Proficiency in the English language (reading, writing, and speaking) is highly desirable.
6. Demonstrated research and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings effectively.
7. Familiarity with intelligence tradecraft, analytical methodologies, and relevant tools and databases.
